Dating App Chronicles Part I

If you remember I previously mentioned that some time last year I thought it was a good idea to join a dating app would be the solution to my so far chaotic and complicated love life (I don’t know why I ever thought that). As you can assume from the title of this post you can guess – it didn’t work out.

When I joined I decided to try and be quite relaxed in my approach by not taking it too seriously and just seeing how it went. So I had started talking to a few different guys and I was happy with the way things were going but there was one guy that I was talking more frequently and started spending more time with. We had started meeting once a week and I felt like we were on the same page but as you will understand later on - we were on two completely different pages.

Now I am not going to sit and lie by saying I wasn’t a little taken back from the way it ended so quickly as I thought we were both happy with how things going and knew where we stood.

Yet the guy in question clearly had another idea. You know that gut instinct you get when you know something isn’t right but you can’t quite put your finger on it?

I definitely had one of those moments in the week before it ended. He sent me a message saying sorry he had been distant and how he felt like I like him more than he liked me.  Not really but fair enough. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. However, it is a bit difficult to not read into someone being openly touchy feely in public with you when you are the completely opposite. I’m sorry I just think it completely unnecessary to suck faces or put your hands in each other’s pockets for everyone to see.

Sorry, I digress (you might have learned by now I do this a fair bit), he then said it was over. Whilst I appreciate how honest he was what I dislike was his approach. A Whatsapp message? Really?

Like you couldn’t call me or even slightly better telling me in person. I’m a big girl. I would have been a little upset but I just think a little niceness and respect goes a long way.

The part I found funniest about this experience was when he felt the need to contact me earlier in the year to say he saw me and was with my boyfriend?!

No, but I think I know where you are going with this. He decided to ask if I wanted to meet up with again. Thanks for the offer but no thanks.

But I guess I should count myself lucky unlike poor Carrie in SATC who got dumped by on post it!

Love,
